JAKARTA, Aug 29, 2016 - (ACN Newswire) - The international automotive event, GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2016 took place from August 11 - 21 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), BSD City, Serpong. Through this World Class Auto Show Series, GAIKINDO (The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries) encourages the Indonesian automotive industry and all its visitors to adopt an eco-friendly driving style and to use green technology, following this year's theme, and "Green Technology for a Better Future".
GIIAS 2016 also aimed to strengthen Indonesia's position in the automotive sector worldwide through an international automotive exhibition. This is the only exhibition in Indonesia that is fully endorsed by OICA (Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles), the international umbrella organization for the world's automotive exhibitions.
GIIAS 2016 concluded on Sunday, August 21, with a total number of 456,517 visitors, exceeding 451,645 visitors last year. The greatest number of visitors was recorded on Wednesday, August 17, with a total of 62,067 people.
Rizwan Alamsjah, the Chairman of the GIIAS 2016 Organizing Committee was exhilarated by the success of GIIAS 2016. "We are very grateful that GIIAS can impress hundreds of thousands of people to come and visit GIIAS again this year. We really hope that GIIAS can be the window to the growth and the development of the Indonesian automotive industry".
As the exhibition concluded on Sunday evening, there were recorded sales of 20,384 units of cars from 25 brands, with a total value of transaction of Rp. 6.1 trillion. This exceeded last year's transactions with a sales total of 19,380 car units valued at Rp. 5.7 trillion.
