BEIJING, Oct 30, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Himfr.com reports Apple Inc is interested in acquiring Sony. With large capital resources, Apple takes mergers and acquisitions as a key expansion strategy at the current stage. However, Himfr.com analysts believe that SONY more closely cooperates with Google, so it is not in the best interests of the company to respond to Apple's acquisition plan.
An early report showed that Apple CEO, Steve Jobs has been asked how to operate 51 billion USD in capital, he said: "I think we should continue to keep abundant funds, because we believe that in the future, there will have one or more strategic acquisitions opportunities." This is to say that Apple takes mergers and acquisitions as one of the key expanding strategies. Apple may consider future acquisition cases, including acquisition of Adobe, Sony, Disney and other companies.
Sony stock prices are stimulated by this news, but Sony doesn't seem to care too much. "We have no comment based on the rumor or speculation," according to SONY spokesperson during an interview with Himfr.com.
Himfr.com believes that since SONY is more closely related with Google, Apple's acquisition plans are nothing more than wishful thinking. In mid-October, SONY released new products with built-in Google TV technology. This series of products have mixed tradition TV and Internet content, although the products only have sales in the American market, but this is regarded as an important step for SONY internet television market entry.
According to a Tokyo analyst said: "if Apple tries to M&A with SONY, this will be a hostile takeover, and this in Japan is extremely difficult to execute. I don't think SONY would go hand in hand with Apple, because SONY is on the same side with Google, opposing Apple.
