BEIJING, May 25, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Isp.org.cn reports that Google plans to launch a mobile payment service based on the near field communication technology. The hardware platform of the service is the Nexus S phone which is sold by the third largest wireless carrier of the U.S., Sprint Nextel.
Isp.org.cn (http://www.isp.org.cn/products/) points out that through this service, phone users based on the Android operating system can pay for goods and receive coupons by using a mobile phone. Google plans to launch the near-field communication technology to promote the revenue growth of mobile advertising and discount business. According to market research, it is predicted that by 2014, the spending of the U.S. mobile coupons will soared to 6.53 billion U.S. dollars from 370 million U.S. dollars of last year.
Isp.org.cn reports that Google intends to launch this service in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington. It will use software and hardware of companies such as VeriFone Systems and ViVotech in this service. The spokesman of Google, Nathan Tyler, and the spokesman of Sprint Jennifer Jennifer Walsh Kiefer did not comment on this. Google has issued a invitation of May 26 news conference in New York.
Isp.org.cn suggests that Apple also plans to launch a similar near-field communication payment system. In addition, Google's mobile payment system will also face competition from ISIS jointly created by three operators of AT & T, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA. ISIS intends to launch its mobile payment system in the early of 2012 in two cities.
