Angkasa Pura II Hosts CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2013

JAKARTA, INDONESIA, May 7, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) has been selected as the host of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) Asia Pacific Conference (APAC) 2013. The prestigious event of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization is being held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Jakarta, from May 6 to May 8 2013.

The President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Tri S Sunoko said that the event would be attended by 286 representative delegates of 33 member countries of CANSO Asia-Pacific-wide. The Vice Minister of Transportation, Bambang Susantono, is scheduled to be present for delivering a welcome speech during the conference opening ceremony to be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

"This is a considerably important and encouraging event. We have only been a member for a year and yet we have already been trusted as a host. Whereas other countries were racing to nominate themselves, in the end we were chosen," Tri Sunoko explained.

Such pride, Tri Sunoko added, was not only for Angkasa Pura II, but also for Indonesia in general. "This serves as evidence that internationally, the world esteems and takes notice of Indonesia. As for Angkasa Pura II, it only functions as a facilitator," he said.

CANSO is the only Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) comprising 143 member countries and in charge of managing 85 percent of the global air space. PT Angkasa Pura II officially joined CANSO as a permanent member in January 2012. The designation of Angkasa Pura II as the host of CANSO APAC 2013 took place when a similar event was held last May 2012, in the Maldives.

Tri Sunoko explained that the activities undertaken by CANSO included forming a work group and sharing information. In addition, developing policies with the main purpose of improving the air navigation services by promoting and increasing security, customer-focused, performing efficiency, and providing prime services.

"We may obtain numerous benefits from CANSO. Moreover, Angkasa Pura II currently implements many airport development programmes. One of the largest programmes is the development of Soekarno-Hatta Airport," Tri Sunoko said.
