SINGAPORE, June 14, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - With 11 international group pavilions and 325 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, the international representation at MTA VIETNAM2013 is unmistakable. Major brands from these countries include, Agie Charmilles, Big Daishowa, Blum, Bystronic, Carl Zeiss, CGM, Coral, Davi, DMG / Mori Seiki, Everrising, Fair Oaks, Goodway, Hexagon Metrology, Hoffmann, Mazak, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitutoyo, MST, Nikon, NT Tool, Okamoto, OKK, OSG, PrimaPower, Sandvik, Sodick, Studer, TongTai, TRUMPF, Wenzel, Zitai and Zoller.
"MTA VIETNAM was established in 2005 to serve the budding Vietnamese manufacturing industry. More and more so we are seeing higher value exports such as automotive and electrical and electronics coming out of Vietnam. This environment creates an ideal marketplace for manufacturing solution providers. The increasing numbers of international corporations that have set up manufacturing facilities in Vietnam is also a major pull factor for international machine tool brands from the corresponding countries and regions to exhibit at the show," says Mr. William Lim, Project Director for MTA VIETNAM2013 from the show's organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services (SES).
Booming Japanese presence in Vietnam
As Vietnam's top investor, Japan has created a burgeoning market for Japanese manufacturing solution providers. In the last five years, Japanese conglomerates have set up multiple manufacturing facilities in Vietnam. Brother, Fuji Xerox, Hitachi, Nidec Semitsu and SOC have joined the ranks of Bridgestone, Canon, and Yamaha Motor Co in setting up shop in Vietnam.
In 2012, Japan contributed 51 per cent of the total US$7.8 billion in foreign direct investment to Vietnam, their 317 new registered projects from that year accounted for 25 per cent of all new projects. In the first five months of this year, Japan has already invested US$3.7 billion.(1) Altogether Japan has 1,947 projects in Vietnam totaling US$32.28 billion in registered capital.(2)
As a reflection of the growing presence of Japanese manufacturers in Vietnam, the number of Japanese exhibitors at MTA VIETNAM has also steadily increased over the years. This year's show will feature 38 Japanese exhibitors, an increase of 58 per cent from the 24 companies that exhibited at the inaugural edition of MTA VIETNAM in 2005.
The Japan pavilion, organised by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) is responsible for the bulk to Japanese exhibitors. The pavilion comprises a collection of 22 companies that are mainly small to medium sized enterprises that produce equipment such as hand tools, electronic components, gears, measuring instruments, and machine tools among others.
Commenting on its largest participation yet, Mr. Kazuhiko Osato, Director of JETRO Ho Chi Minh City office said, "This is the 7th time we are exhibiting at the MTA series in Vietnam, and it is our biggest group of exhibitors to date. The increase of Japanese manufacturers in Vietnam bodes very well for smaller Japanese manufacturing solution companies as it provides the link to break into the Vietnam market."
The other international group pavilions at MTA VIETNAM2013 are France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.
