ABU DHABI, UAE, Nov 14, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - With the search for sustainable energy solutions now topping the agendas of international governments, the world's leading innovators in clean energy are signing up to exhibit at the 7th World Future Energy Summit, hosted by Masdar, from 20-22 January 2014 as a part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Organizer of WFES 2014, Reed Exhibitions, has announced that 90 per cent of exhibition space has already been sold for next year's event, with strong interest in the new Sustainable Living Area that will provide energy and water-efficient solutions for urban living, including a full-size eco-home, eco-transport models, and a fully-functioning hotel room sponsored by Rotana Hotels, and designed and built by Genesis Manazil.
This year's WFES 2013 featured over 650 companies from 40 countries, and WFES Show Director, Naji El Haddad, is confident of attracting even more exhibitors in 2014 based on the advanced bookings.
"Investment in renewable energy, particularly within the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, is growing as more and more governments and private partners commit to large-scale clean energy projects," said El Haddad.
"Indeed, the recent WFES insight report into solar energy development in MENA shows the huge potential for developing a large solar industry in the region due to its natural advantages of abundant sunshine and a strong power grid and road network. More importantly, the industry is strongly supported by governments that are committed to the development of clean energy sources to reduce their domestic reliance on fossil fuels," said El Haddad.
The exhibition area at WFES attracts a wide range of stakeholders in the energy, energy-efficiency and clean energy sectors, keen to share their latest innovations, demonstrate their sustainability credentials, and develop new relationships for business.
"We have been part of the WFES exhibition since its establishment (in 2008). Being part of the oil and gas field makes this event a good platform for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and its companies to present our perspective and experiences on the issues of sustainability," said Ibrahim Mohamad Al Marzouqi, Manager, Public Relations for ADNOC.
"Through WFES, we have successfully met potential clients and discussed potential business opportunities with local companies. We hope that through this event we can further enhance our relations with the UAE," said Hiroshi Ogawa, General Manager of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
"WFES attracts the exact right people for our businesses, C-level decision makers, who we can discuss our projects and solutions with. The event also gives us the opportunity to showcase our most recent projects and achievements with local and international partners and potential clients," said Isabelle Malinconi, VP Campaign Management and Corporate Communication, Schneider Electric.
Already renowned for showcasing the latest in clean energy technologies, WFES 2014 will once again be the international event that the sustainability industry looks to for new innovations, with exciting new exhibits planned and many exhibitors confirming they will launch breakthrough products.
WFES 2014 is receiving excellent support from its sponsors, including principal sponsor, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and associate sponsor, Emirates Aluminium. Platinum sponsors include Total, Shell, Occidental and Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, whilst ExxonMobil has joined as a gold sponsor.
17 countries have also committed to setting up national pavilions at WFES 2014 to showcase their country's innovations including Germany, France, UK, USA, Singapore, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, China, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, Kazakhstan and Norway.
Next year's seventh edition of the World Future Energy Summit will be co-located with the second edition of the International Water Summit and the inaugural EcoWASTE exhibition, also hosted by Masdar, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, and is the centerpiece of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week from 19-22 January 2014.
