Great Prospects for Low-Pollutant Environmental Friendly Coal Beckon Thanks to China's Substantial Coal Demand

HONG KONG, June 9, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Although the coal demand grows at a slower rate, China still has an enormous aggregate coal demand and Chinese government continues to upgrade coal standards for environmental protection and weed out outdated capacity. In turn, quality coal manufacturing enterprises such as Agritrade Resources (1131.HK) have great prospects due to their competitive edge when it comes to capturing the potential of Chinese market.

Chinese market potential worth continuously exploring owing to the enormous low-pollutant environmental friendly coal demand

According to World Coal Association (WCA), in 2011, the world consumed approximately 6.1 billion tonnes of anthracite and 1 billion tonnes of lignite, respectively. As shown in the Interim Report on Coal Market published by International Energy Agency (IEA) earlier, it's expected that world's coal demand will see an average annual growth rate of 2.3% within the next 5 years;

World's coal usage is expected to increase by 53% in the coming 20 years. In particular, China, India, Indonesia, U.S., Russia and Japan altogether will account for world's 77% coal usage. As the world's largest coal producer and consumer, China's coal consumption is expected to account for 60% of world's total coal consumption. Therefore, there is a huge total demand in China's coal market to tap further.

China issues environmental protection policies to eliminate outdated high-pollutant coal fueled power plants in the energy industry

As one of the most economically efficient sources of energy, coal is used in over 70 countries for electricity generation, steel production and liquid fuel, etc. However, during the burning process, coal generates various types of noxious gas, such as sulfur dioxide, sulfuretted hydrogen, nitric oxide, non- inhalable particle, heat, etc which severely damage the environment.

In response, Chinese government is taking proactive measures, such as encouraging the application of clean energy, improving energy efficiencies, promoting diversification in energy production. Meanwhile, Chinese government also issues supervisory regulations aiming to eliminate outdated high-pollutant coal fueled power plants in the energy industry.

According to China's media, 12 ministries including State Administration of Work Safety have issued notices to accelerate the shutdown of small coal mines, with the aim of shutting down over 2000 small coal mines across China by the end of 2015. Amid the consolidation in China's coal industry, the government encourages the introduction of low-pollutant coal categories, which would in turn benefit some international coal mining companies focusing on low-pollutant coal.

Agritrade Resources offers low-pollutant environmental friendly coal from pit to port

Agritrade Resources is an Indonesia-based coal mining company, which adopts a business model of mining operation, transport and sale. It produces low-pollutant environmental friendly coal, which is mostly sold to China.

According to the Company's website, the resources of Agritrade Resources amount to 152.7 million tonnes and the reserves 117.8 million tonnes. Its coal mines feature thick coal seams and surface mining. More notably, the coal of Agritrade Resources is low-emission coal, which features low sulphur and low ash. As the company exports low-pollutant environmental friendly coal, which meets the environmental protection requirements of the Chinese government, its growth potential would be impressive.

Agritrade Resources is the owner and operator of PT Senamas Energindo Mineral ("SEM"), a 2,000-hectare coal mine in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia and produces its own brand of SEM coal, a sub-bituminous, low-sulphur thermal coal. Additionally, it provides integrated supply chain solutions from pit to port, including coal origination, processing, logistics and distribution, having a firm grip on the processes and costs of the whole supply chain.

According to publicly available data, Agritrade Resources keeps boosting its expertise and improving its coal handling and stockpiling to reduce waste and coal oxidization. The coal upgrading technology adopted by the Company, GEO-COAL(TM), is a worldwide patent pending technology that maximizes the potential of low rank coal in an economical and environmentally-friendly way. It upgrades the low rank coal (low energy content) into high rank coal (high energy content) through low-cost procedures. The development outlook for Agritrade Resources is deemed as positive.

About Agritrade Resources Limited
Agritrade Resources Limited ("Agritrade" or the "Company") is listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Exchange (1131.HK). In 2010, the Company successfully acquired and has since been operating PT Senamas Energindo Mineral ("SEM"), a 2,000-hectare coal mine in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. The Company produces its own brand of SEM coal, a sub-bituminous, low-sulphur, low-pollutant thermal coal with calorific value (as received basis) of 3,800 kcal/kg in its raw form. Currently, 1,200 Ha of the 2,000 Ha mining concession has been explored under the Australasian JORC (Joint Ore Reserves Committee) review by DMT Geosciences Limited. The Company prudently estimates at least 120 million tonnes of reserves for the entire 2,000 Ha mining concession. Together with its subsidiaries, Agritrade provides integrated supply chain solutions including coal origination, processing and logistics services.
