Fujitsu Establishes New Subsidiary in South China to Create Greater Value for Customers in the Region with Stronger Business Focus and Enhanced Synergy

HONG KONG, Oct 21, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - Fujitsu today announces the official establishment of Fujitsu South China Limited, a subsidiary of Fujitsu Hong Kong Limited, which will focus on serving customers based in the South China region covering Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Hainan provinces, and China's fast-growing banking and financial sectors.

Established with an initial investment of US$1.5 million and headed by Mr Yau Kan, Fujitsu South China Limited offers information and communication technology (ICT) products, services and solutions to target customers in the region. The new company will strengthen Fujitsu's business focus and resources to create greater value for customers in one of the most dynamic regions of China. This refined focus is an integral part of Fujitsu's global strategy to expand international business outside Japan.

Located in the heart of South China, Fujitsu South China Limited is best positioned to capitalise on the enormous opportunities brought by the robust economy in the region, not just for Fujitsu but also for its customers. The rapid economic growth of South China, in particular the Pearl River Delta, is proven to be a key driver of China's remarkable transformation over the past 30 years. In 2008, Guangdong province alone contributes almost 12% of China's national GDP, the largest of all provinces and municipalities(1). Guangdong also contributes nearly 30% of China's total exports(2). By increasing Fujitsu's presence in and dedication to the region, customers are set to enjoy greater value through more timely and efficient support from Fujitsu within their reach.

In view of the growing importance of the banking and financial sectors in China, Fujitsu South China Limited also stands ready to meet the unique requirements of each and every banking and financial customer, riding on the integration of Hong Kong and the South China region as the hub and gateway of corporations going into and out of China.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Richard Christou, Corporate Senior Executive Vice President and President of Global Business Group of Fujitsu Limited remarked, "Fujitsu's new organisation structure in China is a testament to our strong commitment to this emerging market of growing importance. Our success in China will be instrumental in attaining Fujitsu's long-term goal of transforming itself into a truly transnational(3) organisation - one having the global best practices and collaboration, as well as the flexibility to meet the unique needs in any specific market."

With operations in six continents worldwide, Fujitsu has been striving to enhance globalisation of its business portfolio and contributions. In order to achieve this, transformation is required to ensure each business unit can accommodate the needs of each specific market, while maintaining global best practices for consistent quality levels across all markets. Based on this, Fujitsu promotes the principle of "Transformation for Globalisation" to support its long-term commitment of growing the volume and contributions of international business outside Japan.

"As one of the world's most important markets, China is critical to the success of Fujitsu's transnational strategy. Our customer-centric approach provides further support to our initiative. By increasing our presence and intensifying our resources in China, domestic and international customers will enjoy enhanced products, services and solutions. By greater collaboration and synergy among all Fujitsu companies in China, customers will see 'One FUJITSU' wherever they go. At the same time, under the corporate brand and global standards of Fujitsu, each business entity will adopt innovative means to meet specific customer needs in their respective markets," added Mr Christou.

Mr Yau Kan, President of Fujitsu South China Limited and Regional CEO of Fujitsu South China and Hong Kong said, "We are very excited as we turn a new page of Fujitsu's presence in China. Inspired by South China's expanding role as the hub and gateway of investors going into and out of China, Fujitsu South China Limited also positions itself as the communication platform for domestic and international customers looking for opportunities beyond their home markets. In view of South China's robust economy and to support its sustainable economic development in the long term, we are confident to grow our South China business three times as much as the growth rate of China market every year."

Based on the customer-centric approach, Fujitsu South China Limited is committed to greater collaboration with colleagues in Hong Kong and other parts of China in order to provide enhanced offerings and maximise benefits for customers.

(3) "A transnational strategy can bring the benefits inherent in both global and multinational strategies. The overseas components are integrated into the overall corporate structure across several dimensions, and each of the components is empowered to become a source of specialized innovation. It is a management approach in which an organization integrates its global business activities through close cooperation and interdependence among its headquarters, operations, and international subsidiaries, and its use of appropriate global information technologies."
