Ceremony Held at Toyota Plant in China to Mark Relocation

Sichuan, China, May 19, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (SFTM) - a joint vehicle-production company established in China's Sichuan Province with China FAW Group Corporation (FAW) - held a ceremony today to mark the relocation of its Chengdu plant to the Chengdu National Economic & Technological Development Zone in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

Approximately 400 people attended the event, including Chengdu City government officials, FAW Vice President Jin Yi, TMC Executive Vice President Atsushi Niimi and TMC Senior Managing Director Akira Sasaki.

At the ceremony, Niimi said: "China is a very important market for Toyota, and Chengdu is ranked highly as a core city for China's interior markets. We hope that the new plant will be another example of splendid recovery in the area, which has already bounced back remarkably after the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake, thanks to the strong leadership of government officials and the wholehearted efforts of area residents."
Approximately 3.6 billion yuan has been invested in the relocation and the increased annual production capacity at the new plant, which is 30,000 units as compared to 13,000 units at the previous plant. Also, 300 new employees have been hired to meet the new production capacity.
