First Class Graduates from Toyota Training Institute in India

BANGALORE, INDIA, July 30, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited (TKM), TMC's automobile production base in India, held a ceremony today to mark the graduation of the first group of students from the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), a technical training school established in 2007. The 63 graduates will sit a TKM entrance examination, with those successful joining the company in mid-August.

Attendees at the ceremony included the former president of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Toyota Technical Skills Academy President Sadaaki Ishida and TKM President Hiroshi Nakagawa.

While contributing to the Indian economy by generating employment opportunities through local production, Toyota also aims to contribute to the development of the Indian automobile industry by promoting the training of first-rate technicians. TTTI is the first school set up by Toyota outside Japan with the objective of teaching specialized manufacturing skills, similar to the function of the Toyota Technical Skills Academy in Japan.

TTTI offers places to Indian middle-school graduates of promise who, mainly due to economic reasons, face difficulty continuing on to higher education: TKM covers the students' entrance and tuition fees. All students live on campus for the duration of the three-year program, and in addition to engineering courses, the students master one of four specialized technical skills (painting, welding, automobile assembly or mechatronics) and receive practical training at TKM.

TTTI graduates are expected to play an active role as core personnel of TKM's production operations in India.
