Toyota Thailand Prepares for 50th Anniversary in 2012

Toyota City, Japan, Oct 5, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. (TMT), TMC's sales and production company in Thailand, held a press conference today at the Renaissance Hotel in Bangkok to announce activities planned in preparation for its 50th anniversary on October 5, 2012.

To mark 50 years of operations, TMT announced a new corporate slogan, "By your side... always", as well as plans to work with local governments and dealers to install signs and create crosswalks in five Thai provinces where traffic accidents are especially frequent. Special 50th anniversary edition vehicles featuring Toyota's telematics(1) service as a standard feature are also planned for launch in March of next year.

In a speech at the press conference, TMT President Kyoichi Tanada said that as an expression of gratitude to Thailand and its people for 50 years of support, Toyota is committed to continue delivering happiness to customers in Thailand.

TMT, established by TMC in 1962, began assembly of the "Tiara" and the "Stout" at its Samrong Plant in 1964 and began production of the "Hilux Vigo" in 2004. Today, TMT plays a major role as a global production and supply base for the Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) series(2) for approximately 100 countries and regions. Cumulative exports for IMV vehicles reached 1 million units in July of last year.

Thailand is one of the emerging markets TMC has positioned as a top priority in its Toyota Global Vision announced in March of this year, and to mark TMT's 50th anniversary, TMC will work to forge even stronger ties with local communities and seek to contribute to the development of the Thai automobile industry and economy.
