Santa Rosa, Philippines, Mar 8, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), TMC's production and sales base in the Philippines, held a ceremony today at its plant here to mark cumulative production of 500,000 vehicles, a milestone to be reached within this month.
Attendees at the ceremony included Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office Herminio B. Coloma, Jr., TMC Senior Managing Officer Takahiro Iwase and TMP President Michinobu Sugata. In his speech, Iwase said: "I would like to thank all our stakeholders in the Philippines, including the Philippine Government, our dealers, suppliers, employees and above all our customers for their strong support in leading us to this day."
TMP was established in 1988 and began producing the "Crown", "Corolla", and other vehicles in February 1989. In 2011, TMP produced a total of approximately 26,000 vehicles including the "Innova" and "Vios".
In line with the Toyota Global Vision, TMC positions emerging markets as a priority. TMC will continue to manufacture cars that provide joy and exceed customer expectations in each respective region while also working to contribute to the building of better communities and societies.
