International Marine Associations Eye Asian Growth at OSEA2012
OSEA2012 provides opportunity to expand Asian business network and ideal platform to gather industry know-how

SINGAPORE, Sept 26, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Increasing offshore oil exploration activities into new areas such as East Africa, the Black Sea, Mexico and the Far East, is fuelling the growth of Asia's offshore and marine industry, especially in the offshore rig building sector. Oil exploration companies have to ensure they are equipped with the best-of-breed equipment and latest technology to carry out exploration and production in the most effective manner. OSEA2012 presents an exclusive window of opportunity for these companies to tap the bourgeoning Asian markets, and experience the latest cutting edge products, solutions and technologies designed to enhance exploration and production activities.

Many of the world's oil and gas companies will be partaking in the plethora of trading activities during OSEA2012, when Asia's most prominent oil and gas business event opens its doors from 27 November to 30 November at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

Continually backed by major international marine associations, this year's OSEA will be no different. International maritime companies will be participating under the helm of the Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI), Holland Marine Equipment (HME) and the German Marine and Offshore Equipment Industries (VDMA) amongst others.

This year, the industry associations have been notably involved in gathering participation from the companies in their countries/regions. For instance, the Netherlands international group pavilion has two associations - the Association of Dutch Oil and Gas Suppliers (IRO) and HME, representing the Dutch maritime equipment suppliers - actively encouraging support from companies.

Sharing Dutch Experience and Expertise with Asia

HME is the project and support organisation for the Holland Shipbuilding Association in Rotterdam. With its main objective on international trade, innovation and professional training, the association works to strengthen the position of the Dutch maritime cluster in foreign markets, stimulate innovation and disseminate knowledge.

With a branch in Singapore, HME looks forward to foster collaboration between Southeast Asia and the Netherlands. Currently, HME Singapore represents 15 Dutch maritime companies. The office also organises several collective 'Maritime By Holland' pavilions at international maritime exhibitions and Dutch maritime trade missions (incoming and outgoing) in Asia.

Mrs. Marjan Lacet, General Manager, HME Singapore branch comments, "OSEA is one of the largest events in Asia that gathers industry professionals from around the world. It is a most appropriate event for HME and our members to present our products, services, technology and solutions to our peers, industry and government leaders. It provides the opportunity for our members to extend their businesses in the Asian region."

Showcasing Singapore's Marine Engineering Capabilities

The Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) is a non-profit trade association formed since 1968 to promote the interests and advancement of the marine industry in Singapore. The organisation represents the different sectors of the Singapore marine and offshore engineering industry in the business of ship repair and conversion, ship building, rigbuilding and offshore engineering. Its members include big and small shipyards, local and foreign manufacturers and suppliers of marine and offshore equipment and components as well as marine and offshore engineering companies.

Through the development of programmes to enhance skills and capabilities, safety, health and environmental standards among its members as well as forge business relationships locally and internationally, ASMI seeks to promote and represent the interests of the marine and offshore industry in Singapore.

"Singapore is Asia's leading oil trading hub and one of the world's top three export refining centres. With the Asian region growing steadily as an energy producer and consumer, there are numerous opportunities for Singapore-based companies to expand their business. OSEA is one of the most relevant networking and resource platforms for the industry in the region and it will provide the opportunities for further business growth for our members as well as other local companies," says Ms Winnie Low, Executive Director, ASMI.
