Morgan Ceramics Named Finalist in the British Business Awards 2012
Company celebrates close to 25 years of commercial success in China; Patented technology for energy saving insulation, SUPERWOOL(R) Plus, is nominated for top innovation award

China, Sept 28, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Morgan Ceramics, a division of the Morgan Crucible Company plc, one of the world's leading advanced materials companies, announced that it has been selected as a finalist for both the Innovation and Sustainability award categories in the British Business Awards 2012.

Organised by the British Chambers of Commerce in China, the awards recognise and promote excellence in innovation, enterprise and endeavour in the local British business community.

Morgan Ceramics' SUPERWOOL(R) Plus range, the next generation in energy saving insulation, has been shortlisted as a finalist for innovation. Launched in the market in November 2011, SUPERWOOL Plus insulating fibre is just one example of the business's innovative product research and development offering superior insulation in high temperature environments of up to 1200 degrees Celsius, enabling up to 20% energy savings which can equate to millions in RMB for Chinese industries. The product also reduces carbon footprint thus helping companies comply with China's national drive for energy conservation and environment protection.

Morgan Ceramics' sustained business success and responsible business practices across its operations in China have also been highlighted and resulted in the business being shortlisted for the Sustainability award. The company's business presence in China spans five cities including Dalian Morgan Refractories, Morgan Shanghai, Yixing Morgan and Haldenwanger Yixing, Kailong Thermal, and Yingtelai in Beijing.

Ian Robb, Regional President - Asia for Morgan Ceramics: "We take pride and celebrate Morgan Ceramics' selection as a finalist for two of the most sought-after accolades in the British business community. Morgan Ceramics has been successfully manufacturing a wide range of products for both its technical and thermal businesses in China delivering superior technical and thermal ceramics solutions and offering engineering excellence, customer focused processes and high performance end products. Our success in China is backed by a solid history of technological leadership of Morgan group and our talented team who made this achievement possible."

A patented technology of Morgan Ceramics, SUPERWOOL(R) Plus fibre products utilise special, high quality raw materials and adopt advanced proprietary fibre processing technologies, which subsequently maximise fiberisation output and remove unfiberised solid particles. The resulting products provide uniform and superior insulating characteristics and have low bio-persistence benefits when in comparison to traditional insulating fibre used in China. Together with health and safety benefits for users, Morgan Thermal Ceramics' range of insulating fibre products are gaining recognition and preference of power generation, steel engineering companies, petrochemicals and OEMs in China.

"We believe our innovative technology will be fundamental and beneficial for the industrial sector in China as energy demand increases. Through our highly energy-efficient SUPERWOOL(R) Plus product range, we are conserving our own production energy whilst helping businesses within the region reduce energy costs during the manufacturing process, helping them to become more competitive in the marketplace. We believe this is line with China's sustainability strategy and we are truly proud of our contribution," said Robb.

Morgan Ceramics' factory site in China is ISO14000 certified and aims to continually reduce the waste and minimise power consumption and the discharge of water and dust from operations every year. The company also strictly adheres to group policies based on responsible business practices whereby business ethics, anti-bribery and fair competition rules are laid out and addressed to all employees.

"Our core values and common culture unifies all businesses under Morgan Crucible. We firmly believe our unified approach to business, our industry leadership and our conducting business and dealing with all our stakeholders with the highest integrity, will help sustain our business success not only in China but globally," said Robb.

The British Business Awards 2012 final winners will be revealed on 8th November 2012 at a gala awards dinner in Shanghai.
