Return of the National Team Challenge and Battle for the Lion

Held once every four years as part of the FHA Culinary Challenge (FCC), FoodAsia 2014 will see the return of the National Team Challenge. Chefs from more than 10 countries and regions will enter into a series of cook-offs to bring home the Best National Team Award.

Thereafter, the top three national teams will proceed to contest for the prestigious Battle for the Lion award held on the final day. Each team will prepare an appetizer, main course and dessert for 50 diners using the ingredients provided in a mystery basket. The winning team will take home the coveted Lion Trophy.

The FCC is Asia's most prestigious international culinary competition dedicated to the promotion of culinary excellence. Endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), and backed by regional chef associations, hundreds of budding culinary talents from around the world take part to display their masterly skills and be accredited by a panel of internationally acclaimed chefs.

This highly anticipated competition in 2012 witnessed a 38 per cent increase in the total number of competitors and over 60 per cent more entries submitted for the Individual Challenge classes. Winners for these challenges were crowned over four days of intense cook-offs. FCC2014 anticipates more than a thousand international budding culinary talents to converge and compete for the top honours.

The FCC also features the Gourmet Team Challenge, Dream Team Challenge and over 15 classes of individual competitions.

Valuable insights from industry-think tanks

In addition to the exhibition and culinary competitions, the specialised show will also feature conference highlights from industry heavyweights who continuously drive the food industries forward. 2012's thought-leadership conferences, seminars and workshops assembled more than 60 world-leading industry experts and powerful speakers to discuss the latest food and hospitality industry trends and issues.

Come 2014, delegates attending the FHA International Conference can look forward to even more in-depth analysis into topical areas across various critical global food and hospitality industries. 2014's themes and topics will include monetising the drive for convenience, eco-friendly products' demand in Asia, delivering healthier foods profitably, as well as best practices in distribution channel strategies, streamlining manufacturing costs, enhancing quality, consistency and food safety, and regulatory compliance.

Heightening the international profile of Asia's F&B industry

Backed by a strong international showcase, industry support and stalwart exhibitor and visitor participation, there is no doubt FoodAsia is the top choice for industry professionals. They arrive in droves not only to source for the best products and suppliers available in the global market, they also leverage on this effective business networking platform to secure new contacts, ink deals and exchange business and technical know-how.
