| Celebrates 85 years of Japan - Canada diplomatic relations |
TOKYO, June 4, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (CCCJ) today announces that its Cultural Ambassador Rakugo comic storyteller Katsura Sunshine is launching a world tour beginning in the second half of 2014.
His Rakugo World Tour celebrates 85 years of Japan - Canada diplomatic relations, and commences with an English - Japanese bilingual Rakugo performance hosted by the CCCJ at the Roppongi Hills Club in Tokyo on 4 June 2014 (Please see details at http://www.cccj.or.jp/en/rakugo).
Katsura Sunshine said, "Rakugo comic storytelling is a uniquely Japanese art form, but it translates almost effortlessly into English and other languages. With the wind in my sails after the success of the North American tour last year, I am really looking forward to bringing Rakugo to the entire world this round."
The tour includes a month-long run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a month-long tour of Africa beginning in Ghana, and stops in the U.K., France, Slovenia, as well as a return to Canada for Sunshine's French-language Rakugo debut, in Montreal.
CCCJ Chair Wilf Wakely commented, "As our Cultural Ambassador, Katsura Sunshine is part of our efforts to strengthen the ties between Canada and Japan. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Sunshine is a stellar representative of both countries."
Sunshine is apprentice to Rakugo Master Katsura Bunshi VI, and he is the only non-Japanese among more than 700 professional Rakugo storytellers practicing today in Japan.

- London, U.K.: 29 July and 26 August
- Edinburgh, U.K.: 1 - 24 August
- Ghana: 7, 8 November
- Paris, France: 12 December
