BEIJING, June 14, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - According to the recent reports of Isp.org.cn, Intel plans to expand chip factory in southern Israel and tries to get some financial support from the government.
Intel is preparing to invest $4.8 billion for the expansion and technology upgrading to provide 15 nanometer technologies to the Kiryat Gat Fab 28 chip plant in the southern Israeli town.
An analyst of Isp.org.cn (http://www.isp.org.cn/products/) says that Intel has been seeking financial support from the Government of Israel, but the specific amount is unknown. The local media Israel estimated the amount is about 5-9.6 billion, as Intel generally will require 12-20% of the amount it plans to invest. Israeli Trade and Industry Ministry also said, Intel's new factory will employ 1,300 new staff, and ultimately reach the total number of employees 4400 people.
Isp.org.cn reports that Intel currently seeks for financial support to the government, but that does not mean Intel will upgrade and expand. Isp.org.cn also points out that Intel is the world's largest chip maker. In 2008 it invested 3.5 billion to Fab 28 chip plant, manufacturing 45-nanometer chips. Kiryat Gat plant has already raised the chip level. Intel is the world's second largest 22 nanometer chip manufacturing plant, having an investment of nearly 27billion U.S. dollars. The largest plant is in the U.S.
