ST Electronics Unveils the World's Most Compact, Lightweight Block Up Converters
Agilis Compact Series BUCs to be Showcased at CommunicAsia 2011, 21-24 June 2011

SINGAPORE, June 16, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - ST Electronics (Satcom & Sensor Systems) today announced the launch of a new series of compact and light weight BUCs (Block Up Converters) marketed under its Agilis brand. The Agilis compact series of BUCs available in C, X, Ku and Ka-Band frequency ranges are among the smallest and lightest in the world. ST Electronics' new products and end to end satellite communications solutions will be showcased at CommunicAsia 2011, Booths #1N3-01 and 1N3-07 (Level 1), Marina Bay Sands.

Designed and developed by ST Electronics (Satcom & Sensor Systems), the Agilis 129 Series Palm Size 4W Ku-BUC, which weighs only 0.8kg, operates over a wide temperature range from -40 to +60 degrees and consumes less than 34W DC power. The innovative and efficient thermal design makes this BUC the world's smallest. At the size of a smartphone, the palm-sized BUCs deliver extremely high reliability, quality and rich features; offering functions covering excellent linearity and phase noise characteristic, high power efficiency, low spurious, automatic temperature compensation, and more.

Light and highly portable, installation is a breeze as the Agilis' Compact Series BUC can be mounted directly on the antenna feed horn, eliminating the need for interconnecting cables and minimising Radio Frequency (RF) cable loss. This reduces the complexity and installation cost significantly allowing system integrators and end users to benefit directly and quickly from significant cost savings. The BUCs are ideal for both mobile and uplink applications, as they deliver advanced capability for monitoring and control through the Bluetooth and Wifi wireless interfaces.

"Our Agilis brand of VSAT RF (radio frequency) products have become widely accepted globally and have grown from strength to strength, serving a wide range of industry, covering telecommunications, government and defence, maritime, oil and gas, broadcast and enterprise organisations in over 100 countries. Our quality satellite communications products and solutions address the needs of today's rural areas and urbanising cities," says Rajanik, VP, Satellite Networks, ST Electronics (Satcom & Sensor Systems).

"This is strengthened by ST Electronics' excellent support through our pool of experienced engineers, who are equipped with sound industry knowledge and technical expertise. We are committed to continued investment in research, development and product enhancements to ensure that our customers benefit from the latest features with ease of implementation and management, high quality, reliability and dependability of our products."

Agilis products are always designed in anticipation of new industry trends, technical standards and requirements, product innovation and market applications. As product lifecycles continue to shrink and user requirements become more stringent in today's satellite communications industry, ST Electronics' Agilis products will continue to provide customers with the assurance of satisfactory and lasting results.
