BEIJING, Aug 19, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - According to the recent research of Xpshou.com, driven by the demand of iPad, in the second quarter of this year Apple exceeded Hewlett-Packard to become the largest mobile PC vendor.In the second quarter, Apple shipped 16 million mobile PC, an increase of 136%. The market share was over 21%.
Xpshou.com (http://www.xpshou.com/wholesaler/) reports that mobile PC is defined to include notebook computers, the netbooks and tablet PCs. However, some people do not agree with this definition. But, according to this definition, iPad provides an advantage for Apple. Xpshou.com analyzes that IPad accounted for 80% of the Apple's mobile PC shipments.
Apple's shipments of iPad in the second quarter were 10.7 million units, an increase of 107%. In contrast, HP's second-quarter shipments of mobile PC were 9.7 million units, accounting for 15% of the market share.
Xpshou.com points out that tablet PC has promoted the growth of the mobile PC. The shipments of Tablet PC in the second quarter were 16.4 million units, an increase of 400% compared with the same period of last year. In contrast, the shipments of notebooks in the second-quarter were 48 million units, a growth rate of only 2%.
