BEIJING, Sept 1, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - According to the recent report of Everychina.com, IBM announced the acquisition of intelligence software developer i2. The company provides law enforcement, national defense, national security and the private sectors with intelligence and investigation management software. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Everychina.com reports that i2 has 4500 customers in 150 countries. It provides intelligence analysis software to prevent fraud and crime prevention for banking, defense, health care, insurance, law enforcement, national security and retail industries and so on. Currently, 12 of the world's 20 largest retail banks are using i2's software solutions. Eight of the world's 10 largest companies are using i2's software solutions.
The analysts of Everychina.com analyze that I2 is not to replace human intelligence, but to help improve the technology and promote the fight against crime, fraud prevention and the fight against terrorism. I2 will be merged into IBM's software division. IBM said the acquisition of i2 is to help customers manage data to prevent fraud and security threats.
Everychina.com points out that the acquisition is only one of the few acquisitions of IBM in this year. Different with 2011, IBM's carried out 17 acquisitions with $ 6 billion in 2010.
