BEIJING, Oct 24, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - According to the recent research of Qualitydress.com, iPhone is helping Verizon Wireless to greatly promote its retail business of smart phones. The improvement is enough to enable Verizon to catch up with the pace of AT & T Verizon. In the the financial quarter ended by September 30, Verizon sold over 2 million units of iPhone. This result is relatively close to AT & T's sales of 2.7 million units of iPhone at the same period.
Qualitydress.com (http://www.qualitydress.com/products/) reports that the 2 million units of iPhone accounted for 35% of Verizon's total sales of 5.6 million units of smart phones in this quarter. In contrast, at the same period in 2010, it only sold 3.3 million units of smart phones. Qualitydress.com analyzes that this means that iPhone has made a great contribution to Verizon's surge in sales performance, which also helped Verizon restructure its overall business structure. At present, 39% of the company's mobile phone users are smart phone users, while this figure was only 24% in the last year.
Qualitydress.com points out that the fierce competition between AT & T and Verizon will continue to carry on. AT & T said since the iPhone 4S was released, it has activated more than one million units of the device in the network. Verizon declined to disclose the shipments of iPhone 4S, but it said it has sold all the iPhone 4S in its hands.
