BEIJING, Oct 28, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - According to the recent research of Tjskl.org.cn, as the shipments of smart phones are lower than expected, Motorola Mobile's growth of the third-quarter revenue is below Wall Street's expectations. Motorola Mobile said it sold 4.8 million units of smart phones in the third quarter, less than the analysts' average forecast of 4.96 million units.
Tjskl.org.cn (http://www.tjskl.org.cn/products/) reports that Motorola Mobile's third-quarter net loss was $ 32 million, or 11 cents of loss per share. In the last year before Motorola Mobile became an independent company, its net loss was $ 34 million, 12 cents of loss per share. Excluding certain expenses items, Motorola Mobile's profit per share is 12 cents, twice of the analysts' average forecast of 6 cents.
Tjskl.org.cn points out that Motorola Mobile's third-quarter revenue increased from $ 2.95 billion to $ 3.26 billion, less than the analysts' forecasts of $ 3.37 billion. Motorola Mobile said, including ordinary cell phones and tablet PCs, its third-quarter shipments of mobile devices are 11.6 million units. Motorola Mobile sold 100 thousand units of Xoom tablet PCs. The analysts of Tjskl.org.cn analyze that Motorola Mobile has agreed to be acquired by Google, so it reduced advertising expenses, resulting in a slight reduction in mobile phone sales.
