Clavister's effective security solutions are an enabler not inhibitor of the Cloud |
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, May 29, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Swedish Network security specialist Clavister is helping Cloud vendors meet the ongoing challenge of easing their customers' concerns over security by launching a new product portfolio designed specifically to meet the needs of virtual and Cloud environments.
Security remains the main challenge hindering adoption of Cloud services a view supported by an IDC IT Cloud Services User Survey, which found 74 per cent of IT executives and CIOs cited security as the top challenge preventing take up of the Cloud services model.
The new Clavister Virtual Series features four high-performance Virtual Security Gateways (VSGs). They deliver multi-functional Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) for virtual and private Cloud environments and hosting providers and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) for Internet Service Providers.
Peter Johansson, President and CEO, Clavister said: "Security of data remains the biggest inhibitor of Cloud services and providers face a daily battle to convince their customers that any services provided via the Cloud are secure.
"The Clavister Virtual Series is a true enabler of secure, robust Cloud services. They offer extremely fast, next generation firewalls in just one unit, therefore helping to keep the cost of rack space down. Providers will now be able to deliver Cloud services to their customers without compromise."
With Clavister Virtual Series, Clavister offer its customers Virtual Security Gateways (VSG) to help remove the security problems that shared firewalls can cause for hosting providers. With a shared firewall, customers will frequently want to apply their own security policies. Clavister allows every customer to have their own VSG and can connect to the firewall to apply their own policies. Hosting providers can generate new revenue streams by offer customers their own dedicated security gateway as value added services.
"China cloud market is expected to reach $14.8 billion in 2012, and it will eventually become the world's No. 1 cloud market. With Chinese government's fierce investment in cloud initiatives, we foresee the needs of having absolute secure solutions to ensure the safety of all the data. With Clavister's Virtual Series products, we are confident to fulfil such needs and further develop the market's potential," Clavister APAC CEO Andreas Asander added.
Based on good design, simplicity and high performance, Clavister's new product portfolio is integrated with cOS Core and cOS Stream, Clavister's new and updated operating system which now features a much simpler user interface.
InControl 1.3 is also a new feature of the operating system and enables the centralised management of thousands of devices from the same management tool. Application Control is also built into the core cOS, and is designed to allow users to identify and control usage of social media and over 1,000 applications and network protocols. In addition to Cloud providers, Clavister's new product portfolio also offers solutions designed to meet the specific needs of mobile telecoms providers and enterprises.
