TOKYO, Nov 6, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Businesses with supply chain needs in Japan are looking for professionals with strategic sourcing and international experience, as they focus on cost cutting through operational efficiency improvements. This is fuelling jobs growth and hiring market-wide.
This is just one of the findings of the latest Hays Quarterly Report, covering October to December 2012. The report analyses candidate and employer trends, while highlighting skills in demand.
For supply chain, demand is strong for the following roles:
-- Direct Procurement Managers, with a background in strategic sourcing and international experience, particularly related to buyer management.
-- Direct procurement candidates for Automotive and Electronics manufacturers, and Pharma and Life Technologies.
-- Indirect Procurement Managers and Specialists, including Direct Purchasing - both in-house and consultants.
-- Distribution centre and warehouse managers, particularly to manage process improvements and cost cutting.
-- Demand and Inventory Planners with forecasting, analytical and communication skills across apparel, FMCG, automotive and industrials, and pharma. Demand is expected to continue into next year.
Christine Wright, Hays Operations Director, Asia, said, "Businesses are increasingly international, and need candidates with relevant experience. Employers are looking for leadership, communication and language skills - particularly Japanese, English and Chinese. They also seek a track record of success in areas such as cost cutting.
At the same time, employers need to remain aware that with the demand pinch, skilled candidates often receive multiple offers and can expect a salary increase of 15 to 35%."
The Hays Supply Chain team in Japan represents in-depth knowledge of the industry, and has doubled in headcount over the past year due to the jobs growth and hiring trend.
