Asia's largest oil and gas business event saw 26,713 attendees |
SINGAPORE, Nov 30, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - 26,713 attendees from 75 countries/regions came to OSEA2012 from Tuesday 27 November to Friday 30 November, making this edition the biggest turnout Asia's premier oil and gas trade event has ever seen.
Mr. S Iswaran, Minister, Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade & Industry, who was Guest-of-Honour at the OSEA2012 Opening Ceremony, commented that "OSEA's success mirrors the evolution and growth of Singapore's marine and offshore industry."
"With rising colossal economies in China and India, Asia is raising the demand for energy, especially in the offshore sector, worldwide. This, coupled with the discovery of many energy spots off Asia's coastlines, have generated strong interest from visitors at the event, prompting many exhibitors and visiting companies to express interest to participate in the next edition. Some have booked their booth space at OSEA2014 - The Platinum Edition," says Mr. Chua Buck Cheng, Project Director for Engineering Events, Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), organiser of OSEA.
Cementing its position as the premier sourcing platform in Asia for the oil and gas industry, OSEA2012 saw scores of visitors checking out the latest products, technologies and innovation across the 31,720 square metre show floor. Exhibitors were busy networking and closing deals, with some choosing to launch their latest products and services at OSEA2012.
Exhibitor announcements at OSEA2012
MENCK GmbH, part of Acteon Group of companies, announced the launch of its Singapore branch office. The office, located at Tuas, will be opened in mid-2013. Kiswire announced the opening of their Malaysian factory. The official opening ceremony of their wire rope plant located on the Malaysian coast of Johor was held on 28 November 2012.
Leeden demonstrated the full range of specialised welding, cutting and pipe-handling equipment for offshore, subsea and pipeline activities on the show floor. Following their recent acquisition of Fire Sentry earlier this year, Honeywell showcased FS24X for the first time.
Exhibitors were pleased with the superior quality of the event and visitors. Many met up with existing customers to follow up on business leads, renew business ties and form new alliances.
Mr. Henk G. Lacet, Export Consultant/Commercial Advisor of Holland Marine Equipment comments, "I participated in the first edition of OSEA in 1976 under Nautiservo Far East as an individual exhibitor for five or six editions. After I set up Holland Marine Equipment (HME) in 1986, we came back to exhibit under the group since 2008. The event is very good and it has grown in size. OSEA is also well-organised and of very high quality. It is definitely the biggest offshore event for the Asia region!"
"As a regular participant, we have seen the number of visitors at OSEA increasing every time and it is one of the biggest shows in Asia where we can get information on the latest technologies, solutions and supporting services in the industry. It is also a good platform for us to network and for KPC's regional office to develop business outside of Kuwait," says Mr. Ali Hassan Murad, Manager, Public Relations for Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
An interactive exchange of opinions and ideas
The OSEA2012 International Conference came to a successful close after four days of fruitful exchanges of knowledge and know-how. Speakers and delegates altogether were treated to a range of new ideas and diverse opinions covering issues in offshore development and production, HSE, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and engineering challenges.
Mr. John Westwood, Group Chairman of Douglas-Westwood who presented the Plenary Keynote on the first day, says, "I am very pleased to speak at the OSEA2012 International Conference and am happy to see that the event has grown since the last edition. The oil and gas industry is certainly developing, especially in Asia and the offshore sector, and OSEA2012 provides a relevant and timely platform for industry professionals to get the most updated information, network and further their business opportunities here."
"I really enjoyed listening to the conference presentations. It's very useful for me and my colleagues as we're able to use the findings discussed in our research and project works. We'll definitely be back for the next round of OSEA International Conference," says Ms. Dahlila Kamat from Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia.
"I attended the Keppel Offshore & Marine E-Semi presentation. It was very informative and professionally presented. Not to mention, the venue is great and the conference well organised," comments Mr. Lyle Ewashen, Vice President of Marketing Energy Drilling Pte Ltd, Singapore.
Visitors' accolades
Industry visitors were similarly impressed by the scale and quality of the show, which offered them a diverse sourcing ground for their companies' needs.
Industry renowned organisations that came to OSEA2012:

Visitor group delegations arrived from countries in the region such as Korea and Vietnam, to places as far-flung as Brazil and Ghana. They hail from companies such as Cameron International Malaysia, Cergas Oilfield & Engineering, CNG Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Det Norske Veritas, Kellogg Brown & Root Asia Pacific, Malaysian Marine and Heavy Engineering, SK ENS Korea and VINATEST / VINALAB.
"I am here with a colleague to meet with some suppliers and customers. It has been a fruitful visit and we expect to close some business deals from the contacts we have made here," says Mr. Lukito Agusalim, Director of PT. Timur Megah Steel, Indonesia.
Mr. Toshiyuki Shimizu, Managing Director of Inter Tech Coordinate Corporation, Japan says, "I visit the show every two years and will come back to OSEA2014. Here, I visited suppliers of steel piping and vessels, and found the show useful."
"The exhibition is very well-organised. There is a good representation of exhibitors and I was looking for engineering products related to pipe fittings, seals and gas seals, and anything regarding engineering piping. It's almost difficult to cover the whole exhibition in one day as there's too much to see, and four days also seems too short as negotiations and closing deals takes time!" says Mr. Aloysius Wu from Maeda Corporation, Hong Kong.
The dates for OSEA2014 - The Platinum Edition have changed. The new show dates are 2 - 5 December 2014 at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
