SINGAPORE, May 8, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - The country's biggest players in the field of information and communications technology (ICT) are set to come together to reinforce the Philippine delegation headed to CommunicAsia2013 and EnterpriseIT2013, Asia's biggest info-tech industry event of its kind, held in Singapore from June 18-21 at the Marina Bay Sands.
Latest statistics reveal that the Philippines ranks 22ndamong the top 25 largest cities in the world that are most efficient in harnessing ICT to grow businesses. This indicates the critical role that digital technology plays in helping to drive development to businesses through ICT.
The ICT industry is one of the major contributors in the country's employment sector, according to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).[1]The country's ICT development is expected to steer GDP growth of the local economy by about 7- to 8- per cent, at least over the medium term.
Philippine ICT innovations surpassing global standards
Contact Centers and IT Outsourcing are the second largest contributor to the Philippine economy next to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) remittances. The Philippines continues to strengthen its position in the IT Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) through various programmes initiated by the Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST-ICTO) and various IT-BPO Industry Associations.
In light of this, DoST-ICTO will be returning to participate in CommunicAsia and EnterpriseIT to meet with, and share ideas with quality visitors and buyers from all across the globe.
