The Food Resources Recycling Centre is the first food recycling project run by The Conservancy Association. Its objective is to help qualified individuals and families who are living in Lei Muk Shue (II) Estate by recycling of good quality prepackaged products. At the same time, it aims to raise the awareness of treasuring food as a precious resource and to build a community that promotes the concepts of mutual assistance along with environmental protection. The AEON Tsuen Wan Store operated by AEON Stores has taken the lead to participate in this donation activity.
The Food Resources Recycling Centre held a low-key yet significant opening ceremony yesterday, and it is to commence operations in August 2013 and will mainly serve the residents of Lei Muk Shue (II) Estate, Tsuen Wan in the trial stage.
Ms Christine Chan, Managing Director of AEON Stores, said, "AEON Stores has been enthusiastically supporting environmental protection over the years. We have held tree-planting and used book recycling activities for many years as well as participated in a project of recycling leftover food recently. Apart from these activities, we are very delighted to participate in the Food Resources Recycling Centre project and collaborate with The Conservancy Association, our long-term partner in environmental protection activities, to recycle food and make good use of resources, and benefit families in need. We believe that the scale of this project can be further expanded after successful execution in the pilot stage, and the Group will then have wider opportunities to benefit more people in need across various districts."
