ABU DHABI, UAE, Jan 19, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - The largest edition to date of the World Future Energy Summit is ready to welcome energy experts from all over the world to Abu Dhabi this week - to share best practices, unveil new products and discuss sustainable solutions to tackle present and future energy challenges.

As the centerpiece of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, WFES 2014 expects to receive 30,000 attendees from 172 countries, up from 152 countries last year.

Global decision makers and opinion formers speaking at Day One's Global Leaders' Summit include HE Eng. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy; Rachel Kyte, Vice President for Sustainable Development at The World Bank; and Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.

Around 125 speakers will address delegates during the conference programme, on topics such as waste-to-energy, natural gas and the evolving energy mix, energy efficiency, and renewables technology innovation.

Other high-level speakers at the event include Marie-Jose Nadeau, President of the World Energy Council; Saif Al Sayari, Executive Officer Energy Solutions, TAQA; Santiago Seage, CEO Abengoa Solar; and Kazuo Furukawa, Chairman of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation.

More than 900 exhibiting companies will take part in WFES, IWS and the inaugural EcoWASTE, with more than 200 new products to be unveiled at the three shows.

New and expanded exhibition features at WFES this year include the Project & Finance Village, showcasing over 20 renewable energy projects from the region and beyond; the Sustainable Living Expo, including an actual-size home and hotel suite prototype displaying energy- and water-efficient products; and the Green Careers Fair, promoting employment opportunities and providing career advice and guidance in the renewable energies and sustainability sector.

"Whether it's to win business, invest, network or simply learn more about the industry, attendees at the 7th World Future Energy Summit will have an unrivalled opportunity to participate in the rapidly evolving renewable energy and sustainable development sector, and to contribute to a rich debate on our shared energy challenges," said Naji El Haddad, WFES Show Director.

"The commercial opportunities at WFES continue to grow and we are very excited by the response to our Business Matchmaking Programme, a new networking platform that matches selected participants with decision makers to trade or source products."

The World Future Energy Summit is co-located with 2nd International Water Summit and the first EcoWASTE exhibition, all hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi's renewable energy company.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an annual platform that addresses the interconnected challenges impacting the widespread adoption of renewable energy and the acceleration of sustainable development.
