| Former MD to retire after sterling 34-year career in the exhibition and convention industry |
SINGAPORE, Mar 4, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Experia Events Pte Ltd, organiser of the highly successful Singapore Airshow, has appointed Mr Leck Chet Lam to succeed Mr Jimmy Lau as Managing Director with effect from 1 March 2014.
Lau, who has led Experia Events since its establishment in 2005, will be retiring from the exhibition and convention industry after a fulfilling 34-year career. Prior to his role in Experia Events, Lau has long been associated with organising airshows in Singapore. He was also the co-founder of Singapore's first low-cost airline "Valuair".
Under Lau's leadership, Experia Events expanded its portfolio beyond Singapore Airshow and now manages various exhibitions and events under the Aerospace & Defence and Government & Lifestyle sectors. These include IMDEX Asia, the foremost international maritime defence exhibition in the Asia-Pacific, and the iconic Singapore International Water Week and the World Cities Summit events.
Lau hands over the reins to Mr Leck Chet Lam, whose last appointment was Senior Vice President of Fleet Management & Marketing at SIA Engineering Company. With a distinguished career in both the government and private sectors, Leck brings with him an in-depth knowledge of the aerospace industry across sales and operations.
More about Mr Leck Chet Lam
Leck joined SIA Engineering Company in 2000 and held various roles in the Business Development Division. He was Vice President for Business Development in 2004 and then for Line Maintenance in 2009. He was appointed Senior Vice President (Partnership Management & Business Development) in April 2010 and was seconded to Singapore Airlines in November 2011 as Divisional Vice President Engineering (Operations). Leck returned to SIA Engineering Company in April 2013 as Senior Vice President (Fleet Management & Marketing).
Prior to joining SIA Engineering Company, Leck headed the Transport Engineering Group of the Singapore Economic Development Board. He also served in the Republic of Singapore Air Force as a Defence Engineer.
Leck holds a Bachelor's degree (with distinction) and a Masters of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University, USA. He also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
