| Zhone's FiberLAN conserves energy and reduces operating costs |
Oakland, CA, Mar 13, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZHNE), a global leader in FTTx network access solutions, today announced the launch of its new Zhone Optical Connect Partner Program, in conjunction with its FiberLAN Partner Training Program. As technology advances, many companies are looking to upgrade their infrastructure to replace conventional copper and multimode cables. However, designing a new network infrastructure or refurbishing existing networks is a significant investment.
Zhone FiberLAN delivers converged voice, video, and data services, at Gigabit levels to the end user over a single strand of fiber, thus reducing LAN infrastructure cabling and electronics to a fraction of what is required compared to a conventional Ethernet LAN solution. Zhone will recognize two levels of Zhone Certified FiberLAN Partners within the Zhone Optical Connect Partner Program - Preferred and Elite.
Benefits of the Preferred Certification include:

To obtain Preferred Certification, the partner needs to comply with free-of-charge training programs that provide courses specifically designed for partners wishing to obtain FiberLAN sales certification. Additionally, the partner must also agree to comply with some commercial requirements, based on certification contract. Examples include compliancy with U.S. export and trade regulations or treatment of trademarks and intellectual property.
Elite Certification provides a few additional benefits for partners in addition to those provided by Preferred Certification including:
-- Access to all adjacent service revenue opportunities;
-- Differentiated access to the Zhone support organization for escalations, latest technical product information, tools, best practices, trouble ticket exchange and tracking.
To receive Elite Certification, candidate partners must complete both sales and support certification training courses. Additional commercial requirements are based on contract but can include items such as an agreement to purchase and maintain a discounted demo bundle for sales and partner labs or indemnification and liability.
