SHANGHAI, Dec 3, 2007 - (ACN Newswire) - According to IR magazine's Investor Perception Study, Asia 2007/2008 (IPS), 96 percent of Chinese respondents feel the quality of investor relations in Asian markets is improving. More regular meetings and more communication with investors are listed as the top contributors to this improvement.
One respondent stated: 'Listed companies are more active and enthusiastic in communicating with investors. They have started to realize the importance of investors to the company's future development.'
According to respondents' top areas for improvement, however, 20 percent say there is still more work to be done in the area of communicating with shareholders.
The IPS is the result of an annual independent survey commissioned by IR magazine, now in its seventh year. The survey offers analysts, portfolio managers and other investors the opportunity to give their candid opinions on regional investor relations issues. The survey also asks respondents to evaluate regional companies in several IR categories including best IRO, best annual report and corporate literature, and most progress in investor relations. The responses form the basis for the IR Magazine China Awards.
The IR magazine investor perception studies together make up the world's largest survey of this kind, canvassing over 5,000 analysts and investors in more than 14 countries and regions. Survey respondents nominate companies in specific categories and offer their opinions on IR-related topics and trends.
The IR Magazine China Conference & Awards are in their fourth year and are the foremost IR events in the region. Attended by the top IROs and supported by the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the conference and awards offer seminars, workshops and discussion groups on issues from crisis management to the role of IR in an IPO. This year's event will be held at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai on December 6, 2007.
