SINGAPORE, Mar 27, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise announced today that based on information from leading industry analyst firms Infonetics and Crehan Research, it continued to gain market share in 2013 in the managed LAN, data center switching and wireless LAN markets.
Managed LAN Market Growth
In the Infonetics report titled "Ethernet Switches Market Share, Size and Forecasts", dated March 6, 2014, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise's managed LAN business grew faster than the competition, gaining market share worldwide. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise improved its worldwide market position by surpassing Avaya in overall revenue in 2013.
This performance was highlighted by a significant increase in the 10GigE segment from rapid growth and adoption of the company's innovative technology in both campus and data center networks. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise's 10GigE revenue growth was over four times the market rate, resulting in market share gains in all regions in this key segment.
For the overall Managed LAN market, growth was particularly significant in the Central and Latin America (CALA) and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, where Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise had double digit growth in a declining market in these regions. Also contributing to the market share growth was North America, where the company grew twice as fast as the overall market.
Data Center Switching
In the Crehan Research report titled "Datacenter Switch Market Share & Forecast Tables up to Calendar 4Q14", Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise was the fastest growing data center switching vendor for 2013, reporting revenue growth nearly six times faster than the market. This growth was fueled by triple digit increases in NAR and CALA markets, with nearly 50 percent growth in EMEA and close to double digit growth in APAC. The company's Data Center Switching Solution, launched at Interop Las Vegas in 2011 (where it won Best of Interop in the Data Center category), continues to see strong double digit growth year-over-year in every quarter.
Wireless LAN Market Growth
In the Infonetics report titled "WLAN Equipment and WiFi Phones Market Share, Size, and Forecasts", dated March 11, 2014, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise gained market share in 2013 in the Wireless LAN Interactive/OutdoorAccess Points and Controller market, surpassing Juniper in revenues. Market share gains were driven by significant growth in both Asia Pacific (APAC) and EMEA where Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise grew at nearly two times the market rate. Key to the growth was in the access point portion of the portfolio, as customers transitioned from a traditional controller-based model to the new distributed architectures.
