NEW YORK, N.Y., Apr 23, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Minerals Technologies Inc. (NYSE: MTX) announced today that it is introducing a new line of talc products for the polyolefin markets. The new products will be marketed under the ULTRATALC(R) and MICROTALC(R) trademarks and will be commercially available by mid-year.
"The introduction of these new products from our Performance Minerals unit is another example of the vitality of Minerals Technologies new product development pipeline," said Joseph C. Muscari, chairman and chief executive officer. "These new high-density talc products will be produced at our operation in Montana, which is being expanded to meet customer demand."
ULTRATALC(R) and MICROTALC(R) talc provide improved processing characteristics for polyolefin melt compounders, including controlled moisture, dusting, material handling and dispersion. By choosing one of several grades, the compounder can select the optimum balance of stiffness and impact strength, while maintaining maximum line speeds for production of such products as lightweight bumpers and dashboards for the auto industry. These talc grades have been developed in order to provide a North American alternative to imported Chinese talc offerings.
Minerals Technologies Inc. is a resource- and technology-based growth company that develops, produces and markets worldwide a broad range of specialty mineral, mineral-based and synthetic mineral products and related systems and services. The company recorded sales of $1.02 billion in 2013.
