SINGAPORE, May 23, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - To promote understanding and appreciation of natural wonders, Science Centre Singapore (SCS) is giving nature enthusiasts an opportunity to delve deep at its new exhibition titled, Exploring Nature's Design. Open to public from Saturday, 24 May 2014, this exhibition comprises three separate exhibits, each focusing on the different elements of natural science.

"This exhibition is designed to be educational and creative, to foster a sense of curiosity among nature lovers, and promote deep appreciation for the natural world," said Associate Professor (A/P) Lim Tit Meng, Chief Executive, Science Centre Singapore. "With numerous hands-on activities available, all three exhibits have something of interest for everyone, young and old alike."
Exploring Nature's Design consists of Robot Zoo, Tinkering Space, and Seed Carving exhibits and is part of this year's upcoming Singapore Science Festival.
Robot Zoo
With 7,000 square-feet in size, Robot Zoo explores the ingenuity of nature as a master engineer using robotics. Eight giant, mechanical animals will be on display to mirror and simulate the biological makeup of their real-life counterparts. Muscles will become pistons, intestines will transform into filtering pipes, and brains into computers, demonstrating how animals function in their natural environment. Animals on display at the exhibit include a chameleon, a rhinoceros, a grasshopper, and a giraffe among others.
Tinkering Space
Embracing the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) spirit, this exhibit is a demonstration in self-assembled electronics, a variety of paper-based and other crafts, and robotics. Visitors will have the chance to tinker with easily available household materials to show off their creativity by making DIY luminescent rhinos, microscopes, LED charm bracelets among others.
Seed Carving
The science of seed carving has been in practice in China for many centuries turning useless seeds into valuable works of art of all shapes and size. The Seed Carving exhibit will provide visitors with a detailed journey, from the stages of carving to the types of seeds used, as well as, the stories and anecdotes behind the carvings on display.
The exhibition will be on display from 24 May through to 24 August at Science Centre Singapore.
"We hope visitors, especially young students, will enjoy the intricate workings of the natural world and find inspiration and interest in the science behind them," added A/P Lim.
