The ICMCM, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association (MCMIA), takes place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre over three days, with the final day (16 August) also open to the public ticket-holders.
"The Chinese medicine industry is developing very rapidly in Hong Kong, and has become an effective platform for promoting traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and healthcare products," said Clare Wong, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC. "For the first 6 months of 2014, Chinese medicine exports from Hong Kong amounted to HK$1.75 billion, an increase of 8.5% compared to 2013."
"The ICMCM provides a great opportunity to bring together many of the leading experts in TCM to share their ideas and research," MCMIA President, Vivien Chou, said at today's press conference. "Hong Kong is the ideal gateway for promoting and bringing a fuller understanding of TCM to the world, in the hope of helping people lead healthier lives."
International Exposure
This year's exhibitors come from Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, as well as the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. Making its fair debut this year, the Chinese mainland province of Anhui is organising a group pavilion at the event.

The Conference integrates with the 10th International Postgraduate Symposium on Chinese Medicine (15 August), which is coordinated by the Hong Kong Baptist University. A CEO Forum on 14 August will focus on quality control and production management of Chinese medicine, with leading experts attending the event.

On 16 August, the final day of ICMCM 2014, the doors will be opened to the public ticket-holders for the Chinese Medicine Health Public Forum, which includes a day-long programme of events that give attendees a chance to learn more about various aspects of TCM and introduce them to the latest products on the market.
