Many Traditional Favourites Seen Getting a High-Tech Makeover |
HONG KONG, Jan 12, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - A trio of major fairs featuring toys & games, baby products and stationery items opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with around 2,700 exhibitors from around the world taking part. The concurrent HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair which is co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, run for four days from 12-15 January.

To maximise business opportunities for exhibitors, the HKTDC has brought together more than 110 buying missions comprising over 8,700 buyers around the world for these events. These include a number of renowned importers and distributors, such as Toys"R"Us from the United States, Akachan Honpo from Japan, Ben Jerzy Drobot from Poland and JD.com from the Chinese mainland.
Tech Treats Galore
A plethora of high-tech products are on display at each of the fairs. They include, at the Toys & Games Fair, a powered scooter that can reach speeds of up to 25 kilometres per hour, a model railway that can be controlled by a smartphone or tablet and an advanced system for aerial photography.
Among the smart baby products are a sleepmat that enables parents to monitor a sleeping baby via their smartphone, and a digital video baby monitor with an integrated touchless thermometer. At the International Stationery Fair, you will find a wireless scanner mouse for easy scanning and editing of documents, and a handy mobile phone holder with built-in speaker, among other high-tech items.
Play Time
This year's 41st edition of the Toys & Games Fair features 1,990 exhibitors from 40 countries and regions, making this the largest event of its kind in Asia. New to the fair this year is a Sporting Goods and Playground Facilities zone comprising three sectors: scooters and bicycles; inflatable toys and playground facilities; and sports equipment. Other highlights include the Smart-Tech Toys zone, the Therapy Toys Display, Educational Toys & Games and Kidult World. Major brands are on display at the Brand Name Gallery including 4M, Beleduc, Boo, Educo, CMC, COG - EIN-O SCIENCE, EverEarth, Eastcolight, Geoworld, Gund, Hape, INTEX, Moulin Roty, Osprey, PlanToys, Vtech and Welly.
Evolution Of Toys
The Hong Kong Toys Industry Conference (14 Jan) is a key industry event with influential speakers from Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States taking part. The theme of this year's conference is the Evolution of Toys Industry. Utku Tansel, Head of Toys and Games Research at Euromonitor International and Elliot Kaye, Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are among the conference speakers. Topics up for discussion include the challenges brought about by innovation, rising production costs, international safety standards and tapping the Chinese mainland market.
Baby Boom
Now in its sixth year, the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair hosts 480 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions with first-time exhibitors coming from Croatia and Mexico. There is a diverse range of baby and nursery products on show, including electrical appliances, furniture, toys, toiletries, apparel and gift sets. The World of Strollers and Gear zone includes more than 130 exhibitors while the Feeding, Nursery and Maternity Products zone has been expanded this year to accommodate more quality products. The Baby Food and Healthcare Products zone remains a highlight of the fair following its debut last year.
Growth Industry
Today's Joint Networking Reception brings together participants from both the Toys & Games Fair and the Baby Products Fair to explore new business opportunities. The reception includes a presentation ceremony for winners of this year's Hong Kong Toys and Baby Products Award. Winning products are on display at Hall 3F&G Concourse during the fair period.
Global Stationery Store
Over 220 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions are taking part in the 15th edition of the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair. Pavilions representing Korea, Taiwan and Thailand are all presenting their unique brands and high-quality products.
The Stationery Fair comprises five main zones: the DIY Supplies zone, featuring such products as craft punches and stamps, die-cut cards and scrapbooking materials; the Pen & Paper zone with a variety of paper and printing products and writing instruments; the Gift Stationery zone, displaying items such as greeting cards, gift wrap paper, promotional stationery, and ribbons and bows; the Smart Office zone, including office supplies, computer peripherals, consumables and related accessories; and the Kids & School zone with art supplies, children's stationery and school supplies.
Forums
A series of forums and seminars provide an opportunity for industry experts to analyse topical issues in the industry. They include the seminar on "Stationery Design Trend 2015" and "Stationery - Traditional VS Digital?"
