HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM, Aug 3, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - Hospital Management Asia (HMA) today announced the 26 finalists for the Asian Hospital Management Awards 2009. The finalists were chosen out of 247 entries representing 62 hospitals from 15 countries worldwide. Winners will be awarded during the Gala Dinner and Awards Night of the HMA at the Hotel Equatorial on August 14, 2009.
The Asian Hospital Management Awards recognizes and honors hospitals in Asia that carry out best hospital practices. Now in its eight year, it is the accepted hospital management awards program for the Asia Pacific region. Awards are given to hospitals in the region that, in the opinion of the judges and advisers, have implemented or enhanced outstanding and innovative projects, programs, and best practices during the previous year.
The 2009 Asian Hospital Management Awards finalists are grouped into seven categories.
Category 1 (Community Service) finalists include: "The 'care and share' program; touching the hearts and minds of long stay mentally ill patient, Institute of Mental Health, Singapore; "Bridging the Gap: Working towards a comprehensive cleft lip and palate programme for patients with cleft and palate deformities and their families", Manila Doctors Hospital, Philippines; and "Comprehensive Paediatric Eyecare-Sankara Model", Sankara Eye Hospital, India.
Category 2 (Customer Service) finalists are: "Communicating with out-patients in the Emergency Department", Changi General Hospital, Singapore; "HDPCU to improve in-patient management of acutely disturbed patients", Institute of Mental Health, Singapore; and "Reduce patient queuing time in SOP clinic", Kwong Wah Hospital, Hong Kong.
Category 3 (Departmental Service Improvement) finalists are: "A Multidisciplinary Approach to Improving Oral Intake of Malnourished Dyphagic Patients", Changi General Hospital, Singapore; "Multi-Disciplinary Team for Holistic Management of Patients at Child Guidance Clinic', Institute of Mental Health, Singapore; "Timely Cardiac Investigations for EMD Patients Presenting with Chest Pain to Reduce Inpatient Admissions & SOC visits", National University Hospital, Singapore; "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Management Program", Tuen Mun Hospital, Hongkong.
Category 4 (Human Resource Development) finalists include: "One Staff One Training Plan", Hong Kong West Cluster, Hospital Authority of Hong Kong, Hong Kong; "Implementation of Performance Management (PM)", Prince Court Medical Centre, Malaysia; "TTSH MyCare Framework - Patients First, Empowered Staff", Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore; and "Using Training Within Industries (TWI) to build patient care competencies through standardisation and structured instruction", Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore.
Category 5 (Internal Customer Service) finalists include: "Work Related Musculoskeletal Injuries in Healthcare Industry", Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences, India; "Implementation of Safety Management System (SMS) in Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH) to enhance occupational safety and health (OSH)", Kwong Wah Hospital, Hong Kong; and "eWork-Life@SGH", Singapore General Hospital, Singapore.
Category 6 (Marketing, PR or Promotions) finalists are: "A new beginning for East Avenue Medical Center's (EAMC) Opthalmology Department of Health's(DOH) National Eye Referral Center", East Avenue Medical Center, Philippines; "Health Tourism - Indonesian Market", KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital, Malaysia; "Win Backs Campaign: Lapsed Patient Program Management", Samitivej Hospital, Thailand; "Needs Solution Medical Package", Samitivej Sriracha Hospital, Thailand; and "Corporate Communications and Positioning", Selangor Specialist Hospital, Malaysia.
Category 7 (Patient Safety/ Quality Medical Care) finalists are: "A Timely Electronic Messaging System for Reporting Critical Results", National University Hospital, Singapore; "Quality Assured Pharmaceutical Model in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit", Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong; "Impact of Enhanced VAP prevention Strategies on Patient LOS", Wockhardt Hospitals, India; and "Changing the Culture of Patient Safety Through Improvement in Responding to Cardiac Arrest Patients", Yonsei University Gangnam Severance Hospital, Korea.
