HONG KONG, Mar 13, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - Hua Hong Semiconductor Limited ("Hua Hong Semiconductor" or the "Company", together with its subsidiaries, the "Group", stock code: 1347), a leading pure-play 200mm foundry in the world, and Shanghai Lexvu Opto Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. ("Lexvu") announced today to jointly launch the world's smallest barometer PS3606, which adopts Hua Hong Semiconductor's innovative MEMS manufacturing technology and Lexvu's single-chip integrated sensor solution, with a total thickness of 0.45 mm (the package dimensions of sensor product is 1.1 x 0.9 x 0.45 mm3). This product is also the first single-chip CMOS-MEMS integrated barometer adopted Wafer Level Packaging for consumer electronics on the global market.

The barometer PS3606 is developed by Lexvu based on the 200mm CMOS-MEMS platform from Hua Hong Semiconductor. It adopts the most advanced Wafer Level Packaging technology, giving it the smallest dimension in global industry. With this advantage, the packaging and testing costs are greatly reduced. Meanwhile, this high-performance barometer used the CMOS-MEMS single-chip integration solution originally created by Lexvu with high accuracy, stable system and strong anti-jamming capability. Since the product has its own intellectual property right, it became a remarkable representative of domestic self-developed sensor.
Key parameters of PS3606: Pressure range: 30-110 kPa; Package: 8-pin WLP package, package dimensions 1.1 x 0.9 x 0.45 mm3; Absolute accuracy: +/- 0.1 kPa (95-105 kPa, 0-40 degrees centigrade ); Resolution: 1Pa (95-105kPa, 25 degrees centigrade ); Accuracy of temperature sensor: +/- 0.1 degrees centigrade .
With wide application on the electronics market including smartphones, UAVs(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), air cleaners, and intelligent wearable devices, etc., PS3606 will be started by sample delivery and customer marketing in April this year, and the volume production is expected to commence in the second half of 2015.
"MEMS sensors are increasingly penetrating into Internet of Vehicles (IoV), smart home, smart city and almost all the applications of Internet of Things (IoT), and China has become the most rapidly growing MEMS market in the world," said Dr. Fu Cheng, Executive Vice President of Hua Hong Semiconductor. "Currently, Hua Hong Semiconductor is actively blueprinting smart sensors and defines MEMS as one of the new strategic plans for company development. The launch of this product demonstrates that Hua Hong Semiconductor has gone a step further towards enhancing full compatibility of MEMS devices with standard CMOS process and production lines, as a result of which the Company's MEMS process technology has been upgraded to a new level in terms of feature size and performance. We expect this will contribute to the application development in consumer electronics, wearable electronic devices and IoT market."
"Lexvu has been working on the MEMS area for many years, and owns CeMEMS (Authorization of Technology Trademark), the original CMOS-MEMS single-chip sensor integration solution", said Mao Jianhong, General Manager of Lexvu. "We have also owned complete independent intellectual property right with over 160 patents granted or under application, which ensure us with globally sustainable competitive advantages. Combining with characteristics of self-development and market needs, Lexvu takes full advantage of upstream and downstream industries to create a complete MEMS sensor supply chain which strat from sensor design, manufacture to package and test. The barometer PS3606 is our third product of barometer collection and we will develop and launch more products in the future to meet the diversified market needs."
