JAKARTA, Mar 19, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - Indonesia's exports to Egypt rose significantly by 21.71 percent to US$1.342 billion last year from US$1.101 billion a year earlier, according to Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Nurfaizi Suwandi.
The significant increase in the exports was the result of Indonesia's commitment to expand areas of economic and trade cooperation between the two states, the ambassador said here on Wednesday.
"Indonesian commodities are in great demand in Egypt. Therefore, we have committed ourselves to continue our efforts to increase exports to the country," he said after opening the Indonesian pavilion at the Cairo International Fair (CIF).
Indonesia's exports to Egypt included crude palm oil (CPO), coffee, cacao, tea, yarn, paper, garments, handicraft goods, tires, spare parts and electronic appliances, the embassy's trade attache, Burman Rahman said.
The Indonesian pavilion brings together 17 companies consisting of 10 Indonesian companies, five Egyptian companies and two Indonesian-Egyptian joint venture companies.
The Indonesian companies are PT Syukestex, PT Tunas Baru Lampung (Sungai Budi Grup), PT Pondan Pangan Makmur Indonesia, PT Mitra Niaga Sukses, PT Internusa Food, PT AK Goldenesia, PT Cahaya Sakti Furintraco, PT Supreme Belting Perkasa, PT Dexa Medica, PT ICC Indonesia.
The five Egyptian companies are Ashrafco For Trade, Al Kalla For Export and Import, Egyptian Saudi Co, Annie Golden Trading, and Al Azhar Foundation, meanwhile the Indonesian-Egyptian joint venture companies are Pyramid Glass and Salim Wazaran Abu Alata Co. Ltd. Antara.
