From the architecture, construction, and spatial arrangement to layout of shops, Joy Yard creates a brand new living space that evokes an upbeat theme and lively talking points, as well as an ambience of love and care. Chaoyang Joy City has invited GARDE, a top design company from Japan that has designed Hankyu Hanshin Department Store and Tokyo Skytree, to create the design. With a 35% green coverage and decorated with other natural elements such as stone, wood and water, Joy Yard aims to bring the visitors into a nature setting and instill the notion of simplicity and sincerity. [The Group] hopes to create a unique preserve in the commercial section of Joy City where visitors can feel the restorative essence of life by sitting next to the running water amidst nature, and forget the bustle of the busy city.
From a business perspective, Joy Yard also breaks the traditional frontier with a mix-and-match combination of shops. Chaoyang Joy City aims to present new living and commercial concepts through the space of Joy Yard, and explore new possibilities of shopping areas.
In Chinese, Joy Yard means "a joyful space," and it can also be interpreted as crossing the boundary. Occupying a total area of approximately 10,000 sq.m., around 5,500 sq.m. is available for leasing with five floors of creative retail area and six floors as thematic dining area. It will house 32 new shops, including the first "Chou Da Xia Restaurant" opened by Jay Chou in Mainland China; "The Rug" which offers creative cuisines that set the trend for breakfast and lunch in Beijing; "XNOR Art Jam & Cafe" that re-creates an artistic self-service painting studio; "Hi Department Store," the first self-operated high-end departments store that emphasizes lifestyle merchandise; and "One Way Street," a unique cultural bookstore from Beijing.
