NEC Installs IPTV Systems in Two Hotels at City of Dreams, Macau, SAR

TOKYO, Aug 31, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC) today announced that NEC Hong Kong Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation in Hong Kong, installed IPTV systems at Crown Towers and Hard Rock Hotel, two of the newest luxury hotels in Macau, SAR. These are NEC's first installations of IPTV systems outside of Japan and NEC has provided everything from system design to its operation as a managed service.

Crown Towers and Hard Rock Hotel are part of City of Dreams. City of Dreams is an integrated entertainment resort that is the newest "must experience" destination in Macau and developed by Melco Crown Entertainment Limited, an entertainment company listed on the NASDAQ Global Select Market (NASDAQ: MPEL), which combines electrifying entertainment, a diverse array of accommodation, regional and international dining, designer brand shopping and a spacious and contemporary casino.

These IPTV systems are the primary media content distribution services for the hotels' core IP networks, which feature more than 2,000 connected screens throughout 608 guest rooms and 450 casino information panels. Full high-vision media, including real time news, weather information and audio visual programs including high definition movies can be accessed on demand bases from all 608 guest rooms. The two hotels' shared core IP network is also used for data services, such as high speed Internet, access and wireless LAN access which means that additional investment for designated media networks are not required, and that the shared video content Server enables the two hotels to lower initial investment costs. Additionally, since these services are offered as a managed service, the hotels only bear the monthly operation and maintenance costs. The systems also feature multi-language capabilities and various content services that appeal to guests from abroad.

"City of Dreams allows our guests to experience a unique integrated resort that their dreams come in live. NEC's IPTV System helps us to realize the dreams for our guests," said Mr. Michael French, Senior Vice President of Operations, City of Dreams. "The IPTV system is not only a well-proven system but also provides superior service to our most experienced guests from all over the world."

NEC provided the total system, from design and construction of the IPTV system, to managed services including operation and maintenance. This installation is the result of NEC's strength in creating networked systems for hotels throughout the world.
In recent years, hotels are requiring improved front and back-end operations, lower operational costs and new systems that provide the most advanced services for guests. NEC not only provides for these customer needs with IPTV, but through the provision of integrated IT and communications systems as well.

This opportunity enables NEC to strengthen its IPTV business with greater integration of voice and data features, which will contribute to the development of a truly unified hotel oriented communication system.
