Sony Global Education Partners with Edmodo, the World's Leading Global Education Network

TOKYO, Sept 1, 2015 - (JCN Newswire) - Sony Global Education, Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Corporation, announced today that it will partner with Edmodo, Inc., the world's leading global education network, to enhance math literacy among students in primary and secondary schools across the world. By working with Edmodo, Sony Global Education will make its Global Math Challenge, a worldwide online math competition, accessible to teachers and students in over 190 countries.

"The world of education is constantly evolving, and we are thrilled to be working with Edmodo, a company that has made huge strides in offering innovative solutions to help teachers connect to their students, parents and administrators," said Masaaki Isozu, President of Sony Global Education.

Using Edmodo Connect, a feature that enables teachers and students to log into third-party educational applications using their Edmodo credentials, Sony Global Education will provide a seamless onboarding experience. With the click of a button, educators and students will gain access to valuable resources and activities. In addition, Sony Global Education will make Global Math Challenge materials available on Edmodo Spotlight, the learning platform's recently launched content marketplace, making Sony the first partner to provide Japanese content to a growing repository.

"Edmodo is committed to interactive learning, and we are looking forward to working with Sony to grow our business with quality partners and develop new ways to promote learning on a global basis," said Heath Silverman, head of international business at Edmodo.

About Global Math Challenge

One of Sony Global Education's foremost initiatives is Global Math Challenge, an online math competition accessible worldwide that leverages Japanese arithmetic teaching materials. The 1st Global Math Challenge was held between November 2014 and March 2015 and was offered in English, Japanese, and Chinese, and many people took part either as individuals or as part of a group, in schools and learning centers. Sony Global Education sees Global Math Challenge as a valuable educational tool for all ages, one which nurtures STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fundamentals, analytical skills and creative thinking ability. The next Global Math Challenge is being held in September 2015. After this, Sony Global Education will hold competitions twice a year, in the Spring and Fall.
