- Details of Tanaka Kikinzoku Kogyo's Exhibit

1. PtW8 ultra-fine wire coiling material
With its superior corrosion resistance and mechanical characteristics, PtW8 material is widely used for medical equipment. Historically the drawing and coiling ultra-fine wire with diameters of 30 um or lower often resulted in breakages due to impurities in the material. Tanaka Kikinzoku Kogyo therefore developed a unique manufacturing process using high-purity materials that has improved breakages and has enabled fabrication of ultra-fine wire with a diameter of 10 um. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to observe actual continuous lengths of coiling material, applied to these technologies, under a digital microscope.

2. Precision machined products
Tanaka Kikinzoku Kogyo has fabricated products utilizing the characteristics of platinum group materials, including high strength, and corrosion and oxidation resistance. CNC lathes are used to fabricate shapes according to customer needs, while quality management is conducted using 3-dimensional X-ray computed tomography. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to view images of prototype electrode materials from digital microscopes and 3D X-ray CT scans.

3. Other products fabricated from precious metals
Tanaka Kikinzoku Kogyo will exhibit some of its other precious metal fabricated products and technologies as well.

- Abbreviations
Pt: platinum
W: tungsten
um: micrometer/micron, 1um = one-millionth of a meter

Tanaka Kikinzoku Kogyo representatives will be available to discuss how customer organization can leverage Tanaka's global precious metals technology and industrial product knowledge into your medical products and components. Tanaka's world class capabilities include:
