Hong Kong Designs meet Fashion Forward Europeans
Overwhelming Response to Fashion Hong Kong at Copenhagen Fashion Week and CIFF

HONG KONG, Feb 16, 2016 - (ACN Newswire) - Supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), three leading Hong Kong fashion designers, Doris Kath Chan, Kenax Leung and Lulu Cheung participated in the prestigious Copenhagen Fashion Week (AW16) and Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF), from 3 to 5 February.

HONG KONG, Feb 16 - Supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), three leading Hong Kong fashion designers, Doris Kath Chan, Kenax Leung and Lulu Cheung participated in the prestigious Copenhagen Fashion Week (AW16) and Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF), from 3 to 5 February.

The Danish capital Copenhagen has long been regarded as a city of fine art, architecture and inspiration, where the fashion community is known for its minimalistic and sustainable design approach. The Copenhagen Fashion Week (AW16) programme was packed with numerous Nordic and international brands, including the Top 10 Danish fashion brands selected by official tourism website (visitcopenhagen.com) such as Baum und Pferdgarten, By Malene Birger and Henrik Vibskov.

The three Hong Kong fashion designers, featuring a mix of ready-to-wear (men's and women's wear) and cocktail dresses, demonstrated their versatility during the Fashion Hong Kong show at the Copenhagen City Hall on 4 February. The aesthetic design of the venue complemented the show, which was the only event to present Asian designers at AW16.

Of the three Hong Kong fashion designers, Doris Kath Chan took part in the event for a second time, while renowned designer Lulu Cheung and up-and-coming talent Kenax Leung made their debuts at the event. Their Autumn/Winter 2016 collections for the show displayed the depth of their talent and skill. Doris Kath Chan's Little by Little collection symbolises innocence and a fresh start in life - including first sights, sensations and moves. Kenax Leung's BE NOT SO GENTLE is inspired by Mel Kendrick, an artist known primarily for his wood and cast-concrete sculptures; the fashion style celebrates youth culture and a passion for experimentation. Lulu Cheung's Flow takes its cue from ballet movements, evoking harmonious and peaceful rhythms, a post-romantic spirit and the power of the human body.

A full-house attendance of more than 400 buyers, media and fashionistas attended the Fashion Hong Kong runway show, which grabbed the attention of fashion followers and industry players alike. Highlights and photos of the show were uploaded on various social media channels by participants and the media, many of whom commented that the show was stunning and refreshing and demonstrated the versatility and unique qualities of Hong Kong design. The Daily, the official newspaper of the Copenhagen Fashion Week, covered Fashion Hong Kong on three consecutive days.

Apart from staging the Fashion Hong Kong group show (4 February), Fashion Hong Kong Gallery was also set up (3-5 February) at the concurrent tradeshow Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) to facilitate networking and business opportunities. Regular collections and image-building showpieces were displayed by participants to introduce full collections to buyers. In addition, more fashion accessories brands were showcased to present a complete range of fashion from Hong Kong. They included, BIG HORN, FAVEbyKennyLi, DARE TO DREAM, les amis, Loom Loop, Tasteless Hat Co, Vincelle and VOLARE.

The HKTDC supports Hong Kong industries such as the fashion industry by creating marketing opportunities. In addition to Copenhagen Fashion Week, the HKTDC joins hands with designers to explore other fashion markets, such as taking part in New York Fashion Week (mid-February) and Tokyo Fashion Week (October). In Hong Kong, Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer and CENTRESTAGE will be held in July and September respectively.
