TOKYO, July 1, 2016 - (JCN Newswire) - The TOMODACHI Initiative and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. ("Honda") are pleased to announce the third year of the 'TOMODACHI Honda Cultural Exchange Program' in which high school students from Fukushima prefecture travel to California for a cultural exchange experience. This program showcases Honda's unique way of supporting the education and development of future U.S.-Japan leaders through an experiential learning program theme, 'Music as a Universal Language.' Fully funded by Honda, this cultural exchange program has sent high school students from the disaster-affected prefectures of Miyagi and Iwate in the past two years. The 2017 program will send an approximately 15 Japanese high school students from Fukushima to Los Angeles, California for a two-week exchange program from December 26, 2016 to January 9, 2017. As a part of the program, they will participate in an iconic American New Year Celebration, the Rose Parade by playing music. This parade has more than 120 years of history and is presented by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Applications will be accepted starting on July 1, 2016. The due date for applications by both mail and online is August 23, 2016. Selected participants will be announced by September 15, 2016.
