"Centennial Celebration of Women in the Art World" exhibition

The secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, Yin Yicui, attended the ceremony and declared the exhibition open. The chairman of the Shanghai Women's Federation, Zhang Lili, presided over the opening ceremony. Over 400 extraordinary women were present at this opening ceremony, including the female entrepreneurs, artists, and extraordinary women from Women's Federation and Federation of literary and art circle. Dr. Sun Suifang, the granddaughter of Sun Yat-sen and chairman of American Peace Education Fund, was also present.

Nearly 100 female artists from almost 20 countries, including China, France, America, Italy and Austrilia, brought more than 150 works to the exhibition. These works cover a wide range of subjects including religion, history, folk, fable, legend, urban landscape, emotion, environmental protection, national aesthetic style, visual effect and more. The works reflect not only women's different life experiences and perspectives from different cultural backgrounds, but also express the similarity of all women in the new era of globalization. Therefore, the high value for this collection is self-apparent.

This five-day exhibition will last until March 11. In the exhibition, a part of the work donated will be sold by silent auction, and the proceeds will go to the Shanghai Children's Foundation. A special fund which will be used to help the poor families and children in Shanghai will also be established. Funds from the purchase of Exhibition tickets will also serve these children with the opportunity to visit the Shanghai World Expo. During the exhibition, the Hurun Report will publish the Hurun Art List; Wang Xiaohui, the internationally known artist, will hold the special lecture. At the opening ceremony, the website - en.shwomen.org - was officially lunched.
