- New Sites will Support Global Business Ambitions - |
TOKYO, Nov 1, 2016 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) reached a formal decision to restructure its various office locations in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Global head office functions will be transferred to a new location in the Marunouchi district, and the MHI-owned Dai Ichi Tamachi Building will be rebuilt. Business promotion and support functions currently spread across several locations-including the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Head Office Building in Shinagawa and the Mitsubishijuko Yokohama Building-will be consolidated, reorganized and streamlined at the new site. The restructuring initiative aims to establish an efficient and responsive office structure appropriate for a global corporation. The Company's global head office functions will be transferred to a new multi-purpose high-tech building in Tokyo's Marunouchi district, one of Japan's foremost business centers. The building is currently under construction by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and is scheduled for completion in October 2018. MHI plans to lease the top six floors, occupying a total floor area of approximately 18,900 square meters (m2).
In Tamachi, a district of Tokyo currently undergoing large-scale redevelopment, a new high-rise will be constructed offering scale and functionality appropriate for MHI Group's business promotion. The new building will be constructed-jointly with the owner of the adjacent property-on a plot some 8,650m2 in total area. This will incorporate the site of the existing Dai Ichi Tamachi Building, which is in need of replacement after 50 years in operation. The new building will serve as an integrated strategic base for MHI Group's combined assets. It is scheduled for completion in 2023.
