SEOUL, S.KOREA, Sept 9, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Suprema Inc., a leading provider of biometrics and ID solutions, announces today that the company's RealScan live scanners and RealPass electronic passport readers will be supplied to South Korea's nationwide foreigner fingerprinting posts run by Ministry of Justice.

Starting from Incheon International Airport, the nation's major gateway, the Ministry of Justice has set up fingerprint and face recognition systems across the nation's 22 major ports and airports. The Ministry of Justice will carry on gradual implementation of fingerprinting system for foreigners entering South Korea from September 2010 and it is the first phase of the new fingerprint identification program, which will be introduced in three stages by 2011. The new system focuses on preventing illegal entrance of foreign nationals with forged identification, as part of the government's efforts to enhance its security measures ahead of the G20 Seoul Summit in November 2010.
Suprema's FBI-certified RealScan live scanners will provide core functionality in developing foreigner's fingerprint database system and immigration process. The company's also supplied RealPass, ICAO-compliance electronic passport readers for immigration check stations.
In 2009, Suprema has provided fingerprint live scanning devices and AFIS systems to South Korea's National Police agency for its nationwide operations, and the company was exclusive supplier for the nation's electronic passport issuing and reading devices.
