Philadelphia, PA, London UK, Mar 17, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Thomson Reuters announced today that the pan-European funding organization, the European Research Council (ERC), has selected Web of Knowledge(TM) to support the monitoring and evaluation of its funding programs.
Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge is an integrated and versatile search and discovery platform that delivers access to the world's leading scholarly information in the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, as well as providing metrics and analytical tools for assessing research influence and impact.
The ERC signed a four year contract for access to the Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge platform, which includes multidisciplinary citation data, conference proceedings records and analysis tools from the Web of Science(SM).
The Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge platform will provide the ERC with access to the world's largest citation databases covering more than 12,000 of the highest impact journals, and over 110,000 conference proceedings records from around the world. Web of Knowledge was selected to assist the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) in assessing the impact of ERC funded programs, as outlined under the 'Ideas Program' of the European Union's Seventh Research Framework Program (FP7).
"Generations of researchers have relied on the quality of our citation data to guide their research and aid scientific discovery," said Keith MacGregor, executive vice president at Thomson Reuters. "We are thrilled that the ERC will now use the same citation data to assess the impact of their funding decisions."
