MOSCOW, June 23, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - UC RUSAL (SEHK: 486, EuroNext: RUSAL/RUAL, MICEX: RUALR, RTS: RUAL), the world's largest aluminium producer, is pleased to announce the launch of "From Russia with Love," a book that offers a closer look at the different sides of Russia. Behind its colourful cover featuring the face of a traditional Matryoshka doll, lies over 450 pages of thoughtful text and spectacular photographs, telling a fantastic story about a powerful nation.
| UC RUSAL Presents "From Russia with Love" |
As the first Russian company to list on SEHK, RUSAL aims to bring the best of its home country to Hong Kong and promote a mutually beneficial relationship between the two regions. Following an inspiring guest performance from the Bolshoi theatre, an outstanding concert from the Cossack Chorus and the "Evolution of Russia" - an insightful TV documentary in four series, all supported by RUSAL, the Company continues to deliver on its cultural programme with "From Russia with Love."
"From Russia with Love" consists of five chapters in total:
I. Geography allows the reader to take a wondrous tour of Russia, from Moscow to Siberia, showcasing the country's natural beauty as well as its manmade accomplishments.
II. History and Traditions explores Russia's rich past, starting from Medieval Russia to present day whilst providing a fascinating insight into how the country has evolved and key figures involved in this transformation process.
III. Great Names, as the title suggests, highlights the many famous Russians that have made their mark in history, contributing to the world of literature, art, music, science and sports.
IV. Growth Potential offers a present day picture of Russia, a resurgent nation endowed with natural resources and motivated people who exude confidence and are enthusiastic about the future.
V. Gazing to the Future looks at Russia in the coming years, exploring how the country will meet its energy needs, address environmental issues, strengthen its position in high-technology industries, as well as play host to international sporting events.
Oleg Deripaska, CEO of RUSAL, expressed a passion for his country and a desire to use this book as one way of strengthening the ties between Russia and Asia. Contributing to the preface of "From Russia of Love", Mr Oleg Deripaska wrote: "We are neighbours who have a lot in common. But how much do we know about each other? As the first official representatives of Russia in Hong Kong, we felt we had to tell you more about our country. This book is no ordinary book. It is not a guide, not an encyclopedia. We did not try to sum up all the facts and list all the achievements. But believe us: no other book has been written with such love for a country."
"From Russia with Love" will be available in e-book format via the UC RUSAL website (www.rusal.com) and through Facebook under the "Friends of Russia" page. Facebook users also have the opportunity to win the hardcover version of the book by simply ticking 'LIKE' when accessing the site.
To coincide with the book launch, UC RUSAL has organised a contest for Facebook users and listeners of "Making Friends with Russia" - a nine-part radio programme to be broadcasted by Metro Radio starting from 27 June. Radio listeners can tune in to the programme at MetroInfo Channel at 7:30 PM, which is scheduled every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 27 June and 15 July 2011. Participants who correctly answer all nine questions on Facebook will have the chance to win airplane tickets and hotel accommodation to Russia for two. Other prizes include the iPad tablet computers and iPhone 4 smartphones.
